0.25 Balboa Coin & Puente del Rey

Panama, interestingly enough, uses US dollars as their currency, and have no notes of their own in circulation. However, they do have their own coins, and their currency Balboa, which are pegged 1:1 with the US dollar. So 0.25 Balboa would be equal to $0.25. I took this picture during a one week trip to Panama. I went for a debate conference and this picture was taken on the last day, a few hours before I was about to fly back to Canada. I got an Uber English, an actual Uber type in Panama with drivers that can speak English (if you go to Panama you’ll realize how rare that is), and told him about the currency project and that I wanted to go to a couple of places. He loved the idea and agreed! After Hospital del Nino and Bank of Panama, we came to Puente del Rey, which seemed pretty small considering its on a coin. It was a simple stopover where I stepped out and took a bunch of photos then went to the next stop. Apparently this bridge was built between 1619 and 1634, was used as an access route to the city, and is now a symbol of the colonial era and its masonry work.
