10 Rupee Note & Bab-e-Khyber

I took this picture during a day trip to Peshawar to meet friends and take currency project pictures at the Islamia College and Khyber Pass. Khyber Pass was the second stop, and this was a bit outside actual Peshawar, towards an area people usually call “Ilaka-e-Ghair”, or “Strange Land”, which has historically been dangerous, but things have gotten much better since. This specific gate is the start of a centuries old pass that connects Pakistan to Afghanistan and had been used by many empires to cross over from Central Asia to the subcontinent. Even though there were a lot of cars and trucks passing by, I was able to find a quiet enough gap to take this picture from the side.
