20 Rial Note & Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque

I had a 15 layover in Oman when I was going from Islamabad to Toronto, which unfortunately became a 12 hour layover thanks to a technical issue with the plane, but at least they were kind enough to give an upgrade to business class! When I was getting Omani notes, I realized how strong the Omani Rial is, with this 20 OMR note equal to about $52 USD! I got a car rental at the airport and drove straight to the grand mosque first, which was closer to the airport than other places in Muscat. It was hard to find the entrance but once I did, it saw how beautiful and astounding the mosque was, both from the inside and outside. The inside was decorated very intricately with chandeliers and beautiful carpets, and the outside a pristine white look. The exact place on the note was not hard to find, right near the entrance, and that’s where I took this picture.
