500 Dirham Note & Jumeirah Mosque

I took this picture during a 14 hour layover in Dubai when going from Islamabad to Toronto. Emirates was generous enough to give a free hotel and visa and I decided to make the most of it by getting notes that had places in Dubai on them. After checking in to the hotel, I quickly set everything aside and got an Uber (surprisingly not expensive in Dubai) and told the driver about my project and the three places in Dubai (the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, Dubai World Trade Center, and Jumeirah Mosque, pictured here), and he was willing to drive me to all the three places which were very close to each other as well. After the Golf Club and the World Trade Center, we arrived at Jumeirah Mosque. This was by far the toughest one in Dubai, mostly because of all the development around it that made a good picture hard to get without stepping back and facing the sun. There were a lot of houses next to it, that didn’t let me move back enough to get the full mosque in view, and the sun was directly behind the mosque, making it hard to avoid the note becoming see-through. Eventually I was able to find a spot that showed a good portion of the mosque as on the note, but it took a lot of time in the hot Dubai sun, and my phone nearly overheated as well.
